Garth Brooks Sets Livestream Acoustic Concert

Garth Brooks is tired of his friends being in low places. Next week, country music star Garth Brooks will be hosting a live streamed concert on Facebook Live in an attempt to cheer up fans feeling the coronavirus blues. Garth Brooks and wife Trisha Yearwood will host the 30-minute concert on Monday, March 23 at 7/6c, and viewers can find it directly on the singer’s Facebook page.

This week, Brooks announced on his Facebook Watch series Inside Studio G that he’s planning a special acoustic concert for fans next Monday. “Next week, we’re gonna just do 30 minutes of guitar, vocals,” said the country singer. “You send in the setlist. Should we do that?” He added that fans can request anything from “covers” to “album cuts,” and he even said that he might be able to convince “the queen” Tricia Yearwood to participate. “Like everyone around the planet, everyone’s trying to pitch in, flatten the curve, do their part, social distancing,” said Brooks.

On Friday, Brooks offered some additional information about his live stream concert. “Monday night at 7pm ET the Queen and I are playing your requests during #StudioG!” he wrote on Twitter “Tweet your song requests with #GarthRequestLive and let’s let music connect us during this disconnected time! It’s house cleaning ALL NIGHT LONG.” Fans without Twitter accounts can also request songs on Brooks’ Facebook page, where he posted a similar message.

Brooks is the latest singer to offer live streamed content for people stuck at home due to coronavirus. On Tuesday, the Dropkick Murphys and John Legend performed concerts for fans, and David Foster Wallace and Katherine McPhee have done the same every night this week. Classical music fans can also enjoy the Metropolitan Opera’s Nightly Met Opera Streams, which showcase a different pre-taped performance every night through March 22.
