Pixar’s ‘Onward’ Is Coming to VOD Today, Disney+ in April

Maybe you just finished Contagion, or you’ve been binging Netflix’s Pandemic or have the news on a constant loop in your home. Regardless, we’re all looking for some uplifting Friday night viewing at this point. The good news: If you didn’t catch Disney and Pixar’s latest offering in theaters and you’ve seen Up one too many times, you’re in luck. Disney announced today that Onwardis coming to VOD starting this evening, just weeks after its initial theatrical release on March 6.

The film, starring Tom Holland and Chris Pratt as two elf brothers and Julia Louis-Dreyfus as their mother, will be released for digital purchase today for $19.99 starting at 8/7c. If you have a Disney+ subscription and can hold out for a couple more weeks, the film is dropping on the streaming service starting April 3.

Onward follows the Universal titles Emma, The Hunt and The Invisible Man as the latest film to make the jump from the big screen to the home screen earlier than planned, as the effects of the coronavirus close movie theaters and push people indoors. It joins Trolls World Tour, which will be released in theaters and on VOD April 10, as another family-friendly option fit for at-home streaming.

You can pre-order Onward on Amazon, iTunes, FandangoNow, Google Play and VuduOnward premieres on VOD today and is available to stream on Disney+ starting April 3.
