‘Outer Banks’ Trailer: Netflix Teases Your Next Teen Drama Binge

Netflix brought some sun, sand and surf this morning with the trailer for its new teen drama Outer Banks. And if you’re missing the outside, you can practically taste the salty air and feel the warm rays just watching all two minutes and 38 seconds of it.

Outer Banks is set to premiere on Netflix on April 15 and tells the story of a group of teenagers known as the Pogues living in the Outer Banks in North Carolina, working hourly jobs by day and partying by night (or sometimes knocking back a beer in the sunshine, too). One of the local teens, John B. (Chase Stokes), lays out the situation for us in the trailer: the Outer Banks is “the sort of place where you either have two jobs or two houses,” he explains. “Two tribes, one island.”

When his dad goes missing at the start of the summer, John B. and his friends set out on a search to find him and stumble upon an abandoned boat underwater. Turns out the boat belonged to John B.’s dad and that his disappearance is linked to a literal treasure of $400 million worth of gold. With such a large fortune dangling in front of them and the mystery of John B.’s dad unsolved, the Pogues decide to hunt for the loot and untangle the missing person case, but it’s not all smooth sailing.

There’s plenty of romance, drama and thrills packed into the Outer Banks trailer. From guns and speeding cars, to fist fights and warnings of danger, all signs point to the summer as one to remember for the Pogues.

The new series comes from the minds of Jonas and Josh Pate and Shannon Burke and is set to include 10 episodes to round out Season 1. The cast of Outer Banks features young actors like Madelyn Cline (Tina in Stranger Things), Madison Bailey, Jonathan Daviss, Rudy Pankow (who had a small role in The Politician), Austin North and Drew Starkey (J.J. Sneed in Dolly Parton’s Heartstrings), as well as Nashville‘s Charles Esten.
