Woman Crush Wednesday: Nicole Byer Continues to Nail It!

It may be April Fool’s Day but it is NO JOKE that today is Woman Crush Wednesday! So whether you’re kept indoors due to social distancing or April showers, do yourself a favor and use your time wisely by reading up on our the hilarious, lovely, and extremely talented woman we’re celebrating today. Everybody give it up for the fantastic Nicole Byer!

WHO’S THAT GAL: Nicole Byer

WHY WE’RE CRUSHING: Byer is back alongside pastry chef and chocolatier Jacques Torres to co-host the fourth season of Netflix original bake-off competition series Nailed It!, which drops on the platform today, April 1st. Season 4 features the same Nailed It! premise you know and love — three amateur bakers with demonstrated poor baking skills attempt to re-create edible masterpieces for a $10,000 prize. Competitors take part in two challenges over the course of the 35-minute episodes — but the twist is that this season, the competitors are kids! Byer and her work on Nailed It! have gotten plenty of rave reviews over these past few seasons, so make sure you tune in this season to see this hilarious, wonderful woman do her thing!

WHERE YOU’VE SEEN HER BEFORE: Byer is a terrific comedian and actress who not only regularly kills it on the stand-up comedy scene, but also has been featured in many a successful movie and television show throughout her career (which is only continuing to flourish). Byer’s first professional on-screen gig was in a little 103-time Emmy nominated sitcom called 30 Rock (ever heard of it?) in 2012, and from there she went on to appear in feature films such as 2016 comedy-drama Other People alongside Molly Shannon and Jesse Plemons, 2016 Zac Efron, Adam DeVine, Anna Kendrick, and Aubrey Plaza-led comedy Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates, and 2018 comedy-drama All About Nina, as well as big name television comedy shows like Family GuyThe Good Place, and The Simpsons.

Byer has also had recurring or multi-episode roles in hit shows like BoJack HorsemanBrooklyn Nine-Nine, and A Black Lady Sketch Show. Byer is best known for her stand-up and for her work on Nailed It!, for which she was nominated last year as Best Reality Host and Reality Host of the Decade at the Gold Derby Awards. Byer is immensely talented and only just getting started, so make sure you do yourself a favor and follow her career and success so you can say you knew her when!

WHERE YOU’LL SEE HER AGAIN: Binge all of Nailed It! and looking for your Nicole Byer fix? We’ve got you covered and have some great news for you: you’ve got plenty to look forward to in 2020! She will be in horror comedy film Bad Hair, which comes out later this year on Hulu and also features Vanessa Williams, Jay Pharoah, and Lena Waithe. Byer is also slated to star in an Untitled Phil Augusta Jackson/Dan Goor NBC comedy pilot alongside Aaron Jennings. The show revolves around a group of black friends, their dating lives and wine. For more from Byer, you can check out some of her comedy videos and other information on her website, the great content on her Twitter,  and her incredible, gut-busting (but also very relatable) podcast (of which I am a listener and fan!) “Why Won’t You Date Me?“. No doubt, Byer has many more incredible things in store for her in the near future and years to come. We love you, Nicole!
