‘Trolls World Tour’ Will be Available For Pre-order Rental on FandangoNow

In a move likely to please families cooped up in quarantine, FandangoNow will allow customers to pre-order a digital movie rental before it officially arrives on VOD for the first time. The streaming service announced April 2 that it would make Trolls World Tour available for pre-order on its rental service ahead of the Dreamworks film’s official April 10 VOD release date. Previously, the film had also been scheduled to debut in theaters on that day, as well.

To promote its VOD pre-order feature, Fandango is offering an extra 50% off any other Dreamworks film rental or purchase if you pre-order Trolls World Tour on FandangoNow. Other Dreamworks offerings on FandangoNow include children’s movies like the original TrollsPuss In Boots and Shark Tale, as well as more adult options Transformers, Disturbia and American Beauty. The pre-order deal lasts until April 9, and the 50% off discount ends April 17. Once you rent a movie on FandangoNow you have 30 days to start watching.

“We’re looking forward to working together with DreamWorks Animation on this first-of-its-kind event where housebound film fans can gather around the couch for the highly-anticipated debut of a new movie directly from the studio,” said Cameron Douglas, head of FandangoNOW, in an April 2 press release. “We’re also pleased to offer an extra incentive where families can watch as many DreamWorks Animation movies available on FandangoNOW as they like at a major discount, while getting ready for the April 10 home debut of Trolls World Tour.”

Anna Kendrick, who voices Poppy in the Trolls movies, celebrated the at-home release of the upcoming Trolls World Tour last month. “I’m so happy we can spread the joy while everyone stays safe,” she tweeted.

Trolls World Tour was scheduled to be the first movie Universal was releasing for “day-and-date” release — meaning the film would have been available in theaters, on DVD and VOD the same day. However, with theaters closed nationwide, there are no current plans to release the movie theatrically. Other studios have taken the same approach with recent releases, moving movies like Emma, Bloodshot, The Invisible Man and Sonic The Hedgehog to VOD earlier than planned. Trolls World Tour will also be available for rental on April 10 on iTunes, Movies Anywhere, Prime Video and more.
