AMC Networks Offers Free Movies and Shows For Quarantined Viewers

Another day, another streaming deal! Networks have been doling out free content all week long (and for a couple weeks, in general) and AMC Networks is the latest to bless our screens and our wallets. The company announced today that they’ll be offering free programming from AMC, BBC America, IFC and Sundance Now as part of their We’re With You initiative to comfort and entertain viewers during the coronavirus pandemic.

AMC’s promotion includes the first half of Season 10 of The Walking Dead for free until May 1, as well as BBC nature documentaries and IFC comedy favorites. On the list of free shows is the Brockmire season premiere; full seasons of Baroness von Sketch Show, Birthday Boys, and Spoils of Babylon; and season 1 of Liar. AMC will also be including movie marathons like the Lord of the Rings marathon on April 11; BBC America’s Hunger Games Marathon on April 5, SundanceTV’s  sci-fi marathon April 4 and IFC’s Stiller Half-A-Day marathon April 19 featuring ZoolanderThere’s Something About MaryTropic Thunder and The Watch.

In today’s press release, Sarah Barnett, President of AMC Networks Entertainment Group and AMC Studios, explained the company’s choice to release free content to home audiences. “We want to join with our talent and respond to this moment in the best way that entertainment companies can – which is, to entertain people,” she shared. “Our We’re With You campaign is intended to give information, to offer companionship in the kind of responsive way that linear TV is uniquely able to, and we want to offer audiences the chance to have a laugh, maybe especially important at times of crisis.”

To celebrate the start of We’re With You, AMC released a Youtube video with some of its stars showing how they’ve been spending time in quarantine. “This week has been cray-cray,” The Walking Dead‘s Jeffrey Dean Morgan shares, while Better Call Saul’s Giancarlo Esposito featured his two daughters, saying, “we’re separate, but together.”
