What Is A Thread of Deceit About?
This true crime documentary chronicles a particularly odd case. Sarah and Jennifer Hart were thought to be a typical, loving couple. But in March of 2018 the SUV they were driving plunged off a cliff, killing both parents along with their children Markis (19), Hannah (16), Devonte (15), Jeremiah (14), Abigail (14), and Sierra (12). The car crash was originally thought to be an accident. Yet as the authorities looked further into this case they found evidence that Sarah and Jennifer Hart planned to kill themselves and their children.
A Thread of Deceit explores what actually happened that day. While trying to explain these tragic and needless deaths it also dives into the pattern of abuse the Harts inflicted on their adopted six children, including starving and assaulting them. The bizarre case immediately gained public attention. According to producer Rachel Morgan, the film was “a chance to tell the story without a motive aside from peeling away the layers of something that was unfathomable.”
