Andrew Lloyd Webber to Stream ‘The Phantom of the Opera’ Sequel on Youtube for Free

After airing one of his most successful and beloved musicals online last weekend, Andrew Lloyd Webber is treating theater fans to its sequel. Webber’s The Shows Must Go On Youtube channel will follow its production of “The Phantom of the Opera” with a free showing of “Love Never Dies” as part of the composer’s efforts to keep the public entertained during the coronavirus pandemic and shutdown of theaters.

“Love Never Dies,” the sequel to “The Phantom of the Opera,” will premiere on Webber’s Youtube channel this Friday (April 24) starting at 2/1c. Like the other free musicals he’s shown online, the video will be available to view for 48 hours once it has been uploaded to Youtube.

Friday’s recorded performance of “Love Never Dies” was filmed in Australia at Melbourne’s Regent Theater in 2011, and stars Ben Lewis as the Phantom and Anna O’Byrne as Christine. The production, which features a 36-person cast and 21-piece orchestra, is directed by Simon Phillips and choreographed by Graeme Murphy. The “Phantom” sequel takes place 10 years after the original story and follows the lives and reconnection of the Phantom and Christine on Coney Island.

Webber first announced the launch of his Youtube channel in March and has since aired “Jesus Christ Superstar,” “Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” and “The Phantom of the Opera” all for free this month. Each new musical is uploaded weekly on Fridays and is available to watch for the whole weekend, as many times as you want in a 48-hour window.

To watch “Love Never Dies” this weekend, you can stream the musical on Webber’s The Shows Must Go On Youtube channel starting April 24 at 2/1c.
