Will There Be a ‘Little Fires Everywhere’ Season 2?

Hulu’s Little Fires Everywhere thrilled us, chilled us, and left us wanting more. (Mainly because we need to know: WHAT HAPPENED TO IZZY?!?!) The show was originally envisioned as a single-season limited series, but we know from the likes of Big Little Lies that doesn’t mean there won’t be a Little Fires Everywhere Season 2. But will Hulu order a second season of Little Fires Everywhere?

Little Fires Everywhere was an eight-episode-long series starring and executive produced by Reese Witherspoon and Kerry Washington. Based on the bestselling novel by Celeste Ng, Little Fires Everywhere looked at the intersection of race, class, and motherhood in the 1990s community of Shaker Heights, Ohio. Shaker native Elena Richardson (Reese Witherspoon) believes she has planned the perfect life for herself, but that comes into question when Mia Warren (Kerry Washington), an artist and single mother with a secret past, comes to town. The two women soon find their lives intertwined despite their deep differences. This all comes to metaphoric blows when they take opposite sides in a heated custody battle.

Little Fires Everywhere Season 1 ends with Mia leaving town with her daughter Pearl (Lexi Underwood), Elena’s youngest daughter Izzy (Megan Stott) running away from home, and a surprising cabal of arsonists burning down Elena’s house. Could there be a Little Fires Everywhere Season 2? Will we find out what happened to Izzy? Will we follow the abducted baby May Ling? And will Pearl ever meet her father? WILL THERE BE A LITTLE FIRES EVERYWHERE SEASON 2 ON HULU?

So here’s what we know: Little Fires Everywhere was intended to be a limited series from the get go. The whole series has not only already tackled all of Celeste Ng’s book, but expanded upon it with flashbacks. However, could Hulu renew the series for a second season? It’s not like Big Little Lies hasn’t already proven that a popular Reese Witherspoon-produced limited series can come back for more.

Interestingly, the verbiage on the Hulu press site now identifies today’s episode as the “Season 1 Finale,” suggesting there may be plans for more. Decider reached out to Hulu yesterday, though, and they confirmed it is still a “limited series.” So take that as you will.

As of April 22, 2020, there are no plans for a Little Fires Everywhere Season 2.

WHAT HAPPENED TO IZZY ON LITTLE FIRES EVERYWHERE?

One thread that isn’t totally tied up by the Little Fires Everywhere finale is the fate of Elena’s youngest daughter, Izzy. After Elena admits that she never wanted to have Izzy, the teenager flees the house. In a dream sequence, she is seen being picked up by Mia and Pearl, but we know this didn’t really happen as she’s not in the car with them later and Izzy wakes up on a bus.

In the book, Izzy is attempting to reconnect with Mia and Pearl by following their trail to Mia’s parents house in Pittsburgh. However, there is no indication that Izzy on the show would know how to do this. In fact, the mystery of where Izzy goes next is kind of the juiciest storyline that a potential Little Fires Everywhere Season 2 could tackle.
