Fyre Festival Producer Andy King Hosting Room Service Music Festival All Weekend

The hero of the failed Fyre Festival is hosting his own festival this weekend with very little room for error. Andy King, who turned into a meme after his appearance in last year’s Fyre: The Greatest Party That Never Happened, is teaming up with the Room Service Festival to act as host for the event, which is a three-day live show on YouTube.

Room Service Festival starts today, on the third anniversary of 2017’s disastrous Fyre Festival. The event started today at 3/2c, but it’s streaming through Sunday (April 26) and will include performances from Yungblud, Chelsea Cutler, Chromeo, A Boogie wit da Hoodie, Alec Benjamin and more artists and DJs. After large festivals like Coachella and Governor’s Ball were canceled this year due to the coronavirus, Room Service hopes to bring the festival experience to viewers at home, the event’s website says.

“I’m beyond thrilled to host Room Service this weekend and bring everybody some well-deserved joy and distraction,” King said in a statement. “This festival gives us a chance to translate the anniversary of Fyre into some real good that’s needed in the world right now.”

King was involved in Fyre as an event producer and gained internet fame after Fyre: The Greatest Party That Never Happened debuted on Netflix. In an interview for the documentary, King admits that he was ready to “take one for the team” and perform oral sex to get trucks of Evian water to people stranded at the festival. In a follow-up interview with Netflix after the film premiered, King said he wasn’t thrilled about his notoriety. “I don’t necessarily want to be known as The Blowjob King of the world,” he said.

You can catch King in his new hosting gig this weekend on YouTube, where the Room Service Festival will be streaming on the Trap Nation and Chill Nation channels. And unlike the Fyre Festival, this one is an event you can feel good about attending: 100% of the Room Service proceeds will go toward Feeding America and Sweet Relief to help their coronavirus relief efforts.
