Oprah, Jennifer Garner to Join ‘The Call to Unite’ Global Livestream Event

First, there was the Disney Family Singalong, then Lady Gaga’s One World Together At Home Concert. Now, more than 200 global leaders, entertainers and artists are joining each other in one of the biggest livestream events yet. The Call to Unite will bring together celebrities of all kinds for a 24-hour-long, global event to help lift spirits and provide support during the coronavirus pandemic.

The livestream event is intended to make viewers feel less alone by virtually bringing together those watching from across the globe. The Call To Unite will feature lessons, performances and conversations from celebrities like Oprah Winfrey, Julia Roberts and Josh Groban. Each participant is encouraged to “answer the call in their own way” by telling a story, sharing a prayer or performing.

Other celebrities slated to attend the livestream include Rob Lowe, Jennifer Garner, Deepak Chopra, Quincy Jones, Alanis Morissette, Common, Daniel Dae Kim, Eva Longoria, Mandy Moore, Maria Shriver, Naomi Campbell, Martin Sheen, George W. Bush, Martin Luther King III, Marie Kondo, Minnie Driver, Jewel and Debbie Allen. You can see a full list of participants on the Call To Unite website.

“Today, billions of people around the world are isolated and anxious because of the COVID-19 pandemic — unable to gather with loved ones, go to work, or even mourn those they’ve lost,” The Call To Unite press release states. “Still, in this moment of isolation, millions are rising to the occasion by showing each other love and support in countless ways.”

To help support communities that are suffering most from the spread of the virus, The Call To Unite is partnering with GiveDirectly and Points of Light so viewers can donate however much they want to give in money or volunteer hours.

The live event premieres this Friday, May 1 at 8/7c. You can livestream The Call To Unite on the unite.us website, and on Facebook, YouTube, Twitch and Twitter. The virtual event will also be available to listen to on SiriusXM Stars channel 109, as well as Spotify, which will feature segments from The Call To Unite to listen to on-demand.
