Meghan McCain Blasts the Media’s “Hypocrisy” in Ignoring Social Distancing: Women “Clearly Have Their Hair Done”

Meghan McCain is tired of the media’s “blatant frontline hypocrisy” when it comes to the novel coronavirus pandemic. On Wednesday morning, The View co-host blasted her fellow television personalities and local officials who are ignoring rules of social distancing, even as they continue to encourage others to abide by the policies. “I’m sorry, ladies, but I’m practically a brunette at this point, and I’m seeing women all across all platforms, all networks who clearly have their hair done,” ripped McCain. “We have to lead by example.”

This morning, The View devoted a Hot Topics segment to a Texas woman who was sentenced to seven days in jail for opening her salon before the state lifted restrictions. The co-hosts all agreed that the punishment is particularly harsh, as she shouldn’t have to choose between “her life, the lives of her children, and opening up her business,” but it was McCain who came down strongest on the issue.

“There is a lot of anger at people in media, at people in politics, at people who are not abiding by the rules that they are going on TV and going in front of their local governments and saying they’re espousing,” said the conservative firebrand. McCain brought up a specific example about the scientist “who initially sounded the alarm on Covid,” Neil Ferguson, who ended up getting “caught seeing his mistress as he had Covid and exposing her.”

McCain said that if the “scientist who found this disease and couldn’t keep it in his pants long enough for a health risk in a global pandemic,” how can regular people be expected to follow stay-at-home orders and abide by social distancing policies. “[How is] the average person supposed to follow this when there’s so much hypocrisy?” she asked.

“You have certain anchors who are claiming that they didn’t go out in public on CNN, and then they’re caught on Page Six by a person because they got in a fight with them,” she continued. “You’re seeing local officials getting their hair and nails done.”

The co-host admitted that while she desperately needs a dye job, she’s chosen to follow New York’s laws and avoid her stylist, and she urged her fellow television pundits to do the same. “Us ladies at The View are doing it. I implore everyone in government and across every other platform, scientists everywhere — we have to lead by example,” said McCain. “And if we are not going to abide by these rules, you can’t help a woman who wants to keep her business open and feed her family for breaking them, as well.”
