When Will ‘White Lines’ Season 2 Be on Netflix?

Netflix is tripling down on coke once again with the premiere of White Lines. If you’ve already sped through this new crime drama, you likely have one question on your mind: when will White Lines Season 2 premiere?

Set on the island of Ibiza, White Lines revolves around the mysterious murder of Axel Walker (Tom Rhys Harries). Twenty years ago the UK native went to the Mediterranean island on vacation, only he never returned. The drama revolves around his sister Zoe (Laura Haddock) as she tries to get to the bottom of what really happened during that holiday gone wrong. Will There Be a White Lines Season 2?

At the moment it’s too early to tell. At the time of publication White Lines has just premiered on Netflix. But if we were a betting site we’d be putting our money on a second season.

White Lines is coming for the creator responsible for one of Netflix’s most popular originals of all time, La Casa de Papel, also known as Money Heist. And it’s not like White Lines is a huge departure from that international heist thriller. Packed with mysterious murders, drug lords hiding secrets, gorgeous locales, and some damn compelling characters, White Lines has all the ingredients to be a new fan favorite.

When Will White Lines Season 2 Be on Netflix?

It was first announced that the creator of Money Heist would be making a new show for Netflix in July of 2018. But White Lines’ primary cast members Laura Haddock, Marta Milans, Juan Diego Botto, Nuno Lopes, Daniel Mays, Laurence Fox, and Angela Griffin didn’t announce their involvement until June of 2019. Based on this timeline it seems likely that it takes roughly a year to a year and a half to make a new season of White Lines. And accounting for how COVID-19 has halted most television production, we can likely expect new episodes of the drama somewhere between late 2021 and sometime in 2022.

What Else Has Álex Pina Done?

There’s a reason why you recognize Pina’s name. He’s the creator and mastermind behind the best heist series around, Money Heist. The international drama originally aired on the Spanish network Antena 3, and at first it was considered to be a flop. Though it premiered to large numbers, the series lost its audience as it continued. That changed drastically once Netflix acquired the drama and transformed it into the streaming giant’s most popular original series internationally. So yeah, if Pina is involved we can expect great things.

Prior to creating Money Heist the showrunner was responsible for the Spanish series’ Vis a Vis (Locked Up), El embarcadero (The Pier), and Los hombres de Paco (Paco’s Men). Pina is considered one of the top international showrunners. He currently has an exclusive deal with Netflix meaning we can expect a lot more epic content from this creator.
