Actor Hagen Mills Dead at 29 In Attempted Murder-Suicide

Actor Hagen Mills, who appeared in the TV shows Baskets and Swedish Dicks, has died at the age of 29, People reports. Mills died by suicide in Kentucky yesterday after shooting the mother of his 4-year-old daughter and then killing himself, police say.

According to the Mayfield Police Department, the actor was holding his daughter and her grandmother hostage at their home and waiting for Erica Price to return from work. He then shot Price in the arm and chest when she entered the house. When police responded to the shooting on Tuesday evening, Price met them outside and told them Mills had turned the gun on himself and was still inside the house.

Price was taken to the hospital and is reportedly in stable condition, and her mother and daughter were unharmed in the shooting. Mills was pronounced dead on the scene yesterday.

The Mayfield Police Department has not yet determined a motive for the shooting. “That would be speculative, whereas we are unable to interview the perpetrator,” Sheriff Nathan Kent told People.

Graves County Jail records show that Mills was released on bond last month for a multiple offenses, The Daily Beast reports. He had been arrested for rape, sodomy, domestic violence, kidnapping of both an adult and a child, and possession of methamphetamine and steroids. His previous offenses go back over a decade and include  domestic violence, driving under the influence, and public intoxication.

Mills’ mother told TMZ that he had been living in Hollywood for years, but still owned a home in Kentucky. The actor worked on multiple TV shows in his career, and appeared alongside Zach Galifianakis in his show Baskets in 2016. He most recently acted in the indie horror film Star Light, which is scheduled for an August release this year.
