‘Lenox Hill’: Netflix Explores the Famed NYC Hospital in New Documentary

Grey’s Anatomy has nothing on the real-life surgeons of Lenox Hill hospital. On Wednesday, Netflix released the official trailer for its new Lenox Hill documentary series, which charts the emotional journey of four doctors, including Chief of Neurosurgery Dr. David Langer, at the famed New York City hospital. As the coronavirus pandemic continues to ravage the nation, Lenox Hill Netflix will provide a timely look at the doctors and nurses who work tirelessly on the frontlines to care for their patients, no matter the cost.

According to Netflix’s official description, Lenox Hill will give viewers “an intimate look at the lives of four doctors — two brain surgeons, an emergency room physician, and a Chief Resident OBGYN — as they navigate the highs and lows of working at the renowned Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City.” Lenox Hill‘s documentarians were given full access to each doctor’s person and professional life, as well as those of their patients. Given the four doctors’ specialties, viewers will experience their own emotional highs and lows as they watch patients overcome difficult births, cancer diagnoses, intensive surgeries, and more.

The Lenox Hill Netflix trailer makes the gravity of these doctors’ work clear. “You cannot choose what comes at you here. It’s like the frontline,” says one physician. “We deal with death and dying. I don’t even dare to imagine what I’m going to encounter on any given day,” says another. “This is a human being in front of us. You cannot fuck it up.”

But Lenox Hill on Netflix will have its uplifting moments, as well. The trailer shows more than a few births, and it’s impossible not to get misty-eyed as the team places newborn babies in their mothers’ arms. “I think there’s such a thing as a calling,” says the OBGYN chief resident. “This is the space I’m supposed to be in.” Aw!

Netflix’s Lenox Hill documentary series premieres Friday, June 10. Watch the official Lenox Hill trailer above.
