Newcomer Amanza Smith upped her game in the Oppenheim Group in Season 2, going from a home stager to a full-on real estate agent—and she got the screen time to match. Not only did she get into it with Heather about her relationship, Smith came to the defense of Mary numerous times—to the point where Christine started calling Smith a bodyguard!

But Amanza Smith really piqued viewers’ interest when she mentioned her previous relationship with the father of her two children. Who is Amanza Smith’s ex-husband?

The ex that Smith refers to in Selling Sunset is Ralph Brown, a former NFL player.  After playing for the Nebraska Cornhuskers in college, Brown made his NFL debut in 2000 playing for the New York Giants. Over the course of his 10-year career as a pro cornerback, he played for the Giants, the Minnesota Vikings, the Cleveland Browns, and the Arizona Cardinals.

As far as his relationship with Smith goes, they met sometime around or before 2009; that’s when their first child was born (going off the ages Smith lists in this Instagram post from December). They got married in 2010, and you can even see part of the wedding as a trailer for the event (yes, a trailer) is still on YouTube.

The couple’s second child was born in 2011. Smith and Brown ultimately split up sometime between 2011 and 2013. As Smith said on Selling Sunset, life since then hasn’t exactly been easy. Brown fell off the grid for a while and Smith had to explore sole-custody options as he failed to pay child support. She also makes it a point to state that he is a good father, so, clearly they’ve worked some things out regarding their family dynamic over the past few years.
