‘Below Deck Mediterranean’ Exclusive: Hannah Clashes With Her Second Stew — Before The First Charter Even Starts

It’s usually around the halfway point of a charter season when the stews start to get fussy with chief stew Hannah Ferrier on Below Deck Mediterranean. But as you can see from this exclusive clip of the Season 5 premiere, this season it starts before the first charter even happens.

As the crew loads provisions onto the boat, Hannah calls to second stew Lara Flumiani (no word yet if “Lara Lara Hannah” is this year’s new catchphrase). “Did you see the beer come in with that delivery?” she asks, and Lara comes upstairs to chat with her boss.

“Where is the beer?” Lara asks, thinking Hannah was telling her it came in, not asking her if it had.

“Would you like to maybe radio?” Hannah responds, already aware this miscommunication is wasting precious time before the guests arrive. The two go back and forth about the error, with Hannah clarifying, “I asked you, did the beer come,” and before she can even finish her sentence, Lara cuts her off, saying, “No, you said did you see the beer coming with the delivery, so I thought that you saw it and I did not see it this is why I came upstairs to sort out the beer. It’s a sentence that you can read it in both ways.”

Now, it’s important to know that Lara is from Italy and so perhaps there is a simple language or cultural barrier present here. But that doesn’t quite explain her snappy response to Hannah. You should also know that Lara has been a chief stew before on other boats, one of the key ingredients to stews getting frustrated with Hannah’s management style. Luckily, we have a whole season ahead of us to find out if it will eventually be smooth sailing between the two, but you already know the answer to that one.

Below Deck Mediterranean airs Monday at 9pm ET/PT on Bravo.
