The first season of Dirty John was a juicy, star-studded adaptation of a sensational crime story, and Dirty John Season 2 is no different. Amanda Peet stars as Betty Broderick, a housewife turned murderer, and Christian Slater is her victim and her abusive ex-husband Dan. So when and where can you watch Dirty John Season 2?
Dirty John: The Betty Broderick Story is a flashy retelling of one of the most scandalous murders in the late ’80s. In the 1980s, a divorce case called Broderick vs. Broderick made headlines because of its sheer ruthless acrimony and the way it forced Americans to re-examine traditional marital roles. Betty Broderick, née Bisceglia, met her husband Dan at the Catholic Notre Dame University and happily wed him with the understanding that her purpose in life was to be a doting wife and mother. However, she later alleged that Dan took advantage of her to abusive levels. When Dan was finally settled in a lucrative legal position, he hired a then 21-year-old former flight attendant named Linda Kolkena to be his legal assistant. Betty immediately suspected an affair and was repeatedly gaslit by her husband who called her crazy. Eventually, Dan admitted to the affair, all while Betty began dumping their kids one-by-one on his doorstep.
Naturally this has all the trappings of a messy divorce, but the press seized upon it because it hit a nerve felt in the country at the time as traditional gender roles began to shift. However, the divorce was soon overshadowed by the fact that Betty Broderick, the jilted wife in that case, murdered her ex-husband Dan and his new young wife Linda.
