HBO Makes ‘Wyatt Cenac’s Problem Areas’ Free to Watch on YouTube

HBO has made all 10 of episodes from the first season of Wyatt Cenac‘s late night show free to stream for anyone on YouTube. The Daily Show alum first premiered his show Wyatt Cenac’s Problem Areas in 2018, and now, Season 1 is free to watch, according to Mashable — no HBO Max subscription necessary.

Cenac’s show blends humor with more serious topics, like police brutality and abuse of power in America. Episode 1 covers the 2016 murder of Philando Castile, a 32-year-old black man shot and killed by police in Minnesota while in the car with his partner and young daughter.

Unlike other late night shows, Cenac’s Problem Areas does not cover the news of the week. Instead, he uses his show to explore issues facing black Americans every day, and interviews people from all over the country to help him do it. Other episodes in Season 1 cover gun control, mental health, public education and drugs.

HBO announced on Instagram earlier today that they support the Equal Justice Initiative and NAACP Legal Defense Fund, and would be adding a free selection of videos to stream online. The announcement comes at a time when protestors are standing up against the death of George Floyd, and people are looking for resources to educate themselves on systemic racism.

“We have curated a collection of programming around the continued fight for Civil Rights on our streaming platforms, and select programs will be made available for free on our YouTube channel. #BlackLivesMatter,” HBO posted in their caption.

Wyatt Cenac’s Problem Areas is just one of many series available to stream on the HBO YouTube channel in the company’s free collection. They’ve also included a full episode of Vice: Raised in the Systemepisode 1 of Random Acts of Flyness and a full film of Anna Deavere Smith’s play Notes From The Field
