365 dni — or 365 Days for my English-speaking friends — is currently the most popular movie on Netflix and it makes a strange amount of sense. After all, 365 dni is the Polish version of Fifty Shades of Grey. That means it’s a torrid tale about a bored woman with pent-up sexual fantasies swept off her feet by a wealthy and aggressive hottie. She teaches him the power of love through her tender submission and he gives her kinky orgasms that, uh, also teach her the power of love? We think? The good news is you don’t have to watch all of 365 dni. To get to the good, sexy, naughty, naked, kinky stuff in 365 dni, you just have to skip ahead to the Boat Scene, which is hands down the closest thing to porn on Netflix.

Based on the best-selling Polish novel by Blanka Lipinski, 365 dni follows a bored corporate sales rep named Laura Biel (Anna-Maria Sieklucka) as her world turns upside down. When she and her boring boyfriend Martin (Mateusz Lasowski) go on vacation to Sicily, Laura is kidnapped by Don Massimo Torricelli (Michele Morrone), a brooding and violent crime boss. For five years, Massimo has been obsessed with Laura. His grand romantic plan? Kidnap her and give her a whole year, or the titular 365 days, to fall in love with him.

Is it icky? Yes. Is Stockholm Syndrome real? Psychologists say so! Is 365 dni just an even more scandalous and sexed up version of American hit Fifty Shades of Grey? You better believe it. There’s a stereotype that Europeans tend to be less prudish about sexuality, and 365 dni seems to confirm that. While Fifty Shades of Grey‘s Christian (Jamie Dorman) was an emotionally abusive, controlling, and toxically jealous boyfriend to Anastasia Steele (Dakota Johnson), Massimo ups the ante by straight up kidnapping Laura against her will and killing rival gangsters who rub up on her in a club. However, the bigger gulf between Fifty Shades and 365 dni has to do with their sex scenes. Did you think Fifty Shades of Grey was naughty? The Boat Scene in 365 dni looks like it might be an actual hard-core pornographic love scene.

When does this groundbreaking entry into the unofficial sex scene hall of fame happen? 365 dni‘s scandalous Boat Scene starts at exactly 1:07:40 in the film (or 67 minutes into the movie). After getting into a fight about how Massimo murdered a gangster who tried to rape Laura, our heroine is accidentally tossed overboard and into the sea. Massimo jumps in after his love. When she wakes up, he expresses that he is thankful that she is alive. She expresses her thanks by casting off a blanket, revealing she’s only wearing lace panties, and reaching for his groin.

Now, I’ve seen a lot of oral sex scenes on TV and in film, but I’ve never seen anything that made me question the logistics of a blowjob scene like the Boat Scene in 365 dni. Actress Anna-Maria Sieklucka has to be sucking something. A kielbasa? A flesh-colored tube? A bit of piping? However it was accomplished, it’s shocking to say the least. Almost immediately after, Massimo returns the favor, using his own spit as a lubricant for even more spit (??) and establishing that all bets are off. Laura and Massimo are officially horny for each other and they’re going to use every corner, bench, table, sun deck, and lounge area on this boat to prove it.

What follows is a graphic sex scene that’s less of a singular scene than more of a montage of marathon love-making. For over five minutes, we watch some truly visceral thrusting, licking, sucking, choking, and orgasming. At one point the camera cuts between them on the bed to an aerial shot of Laura humping Massimo on a sun deck, their naked bodies in full view of God, the sun, and maybe — just maybe — the cast of the latest season of Below Deck: Mediterranean.

For me, the fascinating thing about 365 dni is how ruthlessly horny the film is. While other directors might use graphic sex scenes to unnerve the audience, show the exquisite nature of true love, or even to say something profound about life, death, and human nature, 365 dni is doing none of that. From start to finish, 365 dni is a movie about the kinkier side of sex. The plot is a dark unbidden fantasy that no one would seriously admit to entertaining to anyone other than a lover or close confidant. The sex scenes are aggressively dirty, shot not with a male or female gaze, but a voyeur’s. (I swear the actors cheat out to stare down the camera lens every couple of seconds. It’s…uncomfortable.)

All this is to say that 365 dni on Netflix is not great art or even well-made entertainment. It is however prime personal fantasy time material. If this is the kind of thing that floats your proverbial boat, please watch 365 dni in private and skip ahead to the yacht rocking sequence at your discretion.
