Lynn Shelton Tribute Featuring Marc Maron, Duplass Brothers to Air on Youtube

Friends and co-workers of Lynn Shelton, the filmmaker who died May 16, are uniting to honor her legacy with a tribute service streaming tonight on YouTube. “Her Effortless Brilliance” will be a music-based event featuring performances to remember Shelton’s impact on the film industry and lives of those she knew and worked with.

Tonight’s tribute will include performances by Ben Gibbard of Death Cab for Cutie, musician Andrew Bird, and Shelton’s partner Marc Maron, according to Variety. The event will also feature appearances from multiple actors, including Jay and Mark Duplass, Emily Blunt, Kaitlyn Dever, Rosemarie DeWitt, Jeff Garlin, Joshua Leonard, Sean Nelson, Michaela Watkins and Reese Witherspoon.

Director Megan Griffiths, who was a frequent collaborator and longtime friend of Shelton’s, directed and produced the tribute with Mel Eslyn, the Duplass brothers and Adam Kersh.

“It has been really meaningful to me to work on this project,” Griffiths said. “Lynn was one of my dearest friends and losing her has been leveling. It has given me comfort to focus on celebrating her life by bringing together all of these beautiful performances and hearing the heartfelt words of her many friends and collaborators. I hope it brings solace to her family and all those mourning this unfathomable loss.”

Shelton died at at 54 last month due to a previously undiagnosed blood disorder. The writer, director, producer and actor was known mostly for her work behind the screen on projects like The Mindy Project, Mad Men, Glow, The Good Place and Fresh Off the Boat. Throughout her career, she worked often with the Duplass Brothers on films like Humpday, Your Sister’s Sister and Outside In. More recently, Shelton directed four episodes of Hulu’s Little Fires Everywhere
