Gwen Stefani is Back at ‘The Voice’ for Season 19

Nick Jonas is out, and Gwen Stefani is in. When The Voice returns to NBC for Season 19 this fall, the No Doubt singer will once again claim the red judge’s chair and fill Jonas’ seat, Entertainment Tonight reports.

Stefani’s return to The Voice marks her fifth season as a coach after multiple stints on the show. She last appeared on the reality singing competition as a full-time coach for Season 17, and previously coached contestants in Seasons 7, 9 and 12. She served a mentor on Seasons 8 and 10. For the upcoming season, Stefani will be joined by co-judges and coaches Kelly Clarkson, John Legend and her boyfriend, Blake Shelton.

Jonas was brought in to fill Stefani’s spot for Season 18 while she was performing in Las Vegas for her Just A Girl residency. During the press junket for The Voice last year, Stefani told Entertainment Tonight that it was difficult to balance her residency and her work on the show. “I didn’t expect to be doing [the Vegas show] and The Voice at the same time,” she said. “I just feel like I’m alive in a way I’ve never been before, because I have to be! Because doing both is a lot.”

Last season of The Voice was an untraditional one since it was cut short due to the coronavirus pandemic, forcing NBC to create a virtual ending. Stefani made a special guest appearance on the season finale to perform a duet with Shelton, singing their hit song “Nobody But You.” Shelton’s competitor, artist Todd Tilghman, won the series with the most fan votes, marking Shelton’s seventh win since The Voice premiered in 2011. He holds the record as coach with the most wins on the series, with Clarkson and former judge Adam Levine tied below him at three wins each.

While NBC has not set a specific premiere date yet, The Voice is expected to come back to the network this fall with new episodes on Mondays and Tuesdays at 8/7c.
