Psych 2: Lassie Come Home

I’m sure the Psych fandom will agree that it’s an absolute joy to have Shawn and Gus back in our lives. Earlier this week, TV’s funniest crime-solving duo returned with a new movie: Psych 2: Lassie Come Home.

The followup to Psych’s popular 2017 film, the sequel follows Shawn and Gus (James Roday Rodriguez and Dulé Hill) as they return to their old stomping grounds to help solve a potentially supernatural case involving their good friend Chief Lassiter (Timothy Omundson). Without spoiling the movie, Psych 2: Lassie Come Home is a delightful reminder of why we love this silly, silly franchise.

Now that Psych 2 is in the books, many fans are wondering about a potential Psych 3. Will there ever be a third Psych movie? Here’s everything we know so far.

WILL THERE BE A PSYCH 3 MOVIE?

There’s no official word on a third Psych film, but I’d say there’s a very good chance we’ll eventually see Psych 3. Not only was the film well-received by critics, but Psych 2: Lassie Come Home dominated the Peacock search traffic on Google Trends, which signifies an abundance of audience interest. Perhaps the best indication of another film is how much the cast genuinely want to continue to produce more movies.

“I definitely think that there’s a better chance that we do a third movie than that we don’t,” Roday Rodriguez told Collider in a recent interview. “The reason I say that is because I think our fans are still very much with us.”

Added Hill, “In the midst of all the crazy stuff that goes on in the world, and with all of the drama and pandemics and issues that are out there, as long as we can keep delivering a moment of levity for families, I think there’ll be more stories to tell. When we stop delivering the laughter, that will be time for us to pack it on up.”
