As we reach the back half of July, the weather isn’t the only thing continuing to heat up this summer. Hot titles keep on dropping on all of your favorite streaming platforms, and with them, countless captivating performances by talented actresses. For this week’s Woman Crush Wednesday we are yet again shouting out one of those wonderful ladies who is making a splash in a new summer film coming your way this week. She’s a young star who is only continuing to rise and put great work out there, so make sure you get familiar with her and remember her name! Without further ado, let’s give it up for this week’s WCW, Maisie Richardson-Sellers!

WHO’S THAT GAL: Maisie Richardson-Sellers

WHY WE’RE CRUSHING:

The Kissing Booth 2 is a Netflix Original romantic comedy that drops on the platform this Friday, July 24th. This sequel film to 2018’s The Kissing Booth catches us back up with Elle (Joey King), who is now a high school senior juggling a long-distance relationship with her boyfriend Noah (Jacob Elordi), college applications, and a new friendship with a handsome classmate (Taylor Zakhar Perez) that could change everything. Richardson-Sellers plays the new big role of (and Elle’s love rival) Chloe, a beautiful and charming student attending Harvard alongside Noah and who seems to be getting close to him as Elle can do nothing but watch from afar. The film has already been marked as a must-stream for this month by sources like The Toronto SunGlamour, and many more, so make sure you check it out as soon as it’s dropped so you can check Richardson-Sellers’s great work ASAP!

WHERE YOU’VE SEEN HER BEFORE: Richardson-Sellers has been working steadily in the entertainment for the past decade, beginning with her on-screen debut in 2012 short drama film Our First World and then starring in short crime film Americano and Rum one year later before her acting career really started to shoot off to new heights. The British actress landed her first big mainstream role one year later as recurring character Rebekah Mikaelson/Eva Sinclair in The CW fantasy supernatural drama television series The Originals, maintaining her role from 2014 to 2015 and then again in 2017. Then in 2015, Richardson-Sellers continued to rise to new heights and even to a galaxy far, far away by playing Korr Sella in epic space opera blockbuster Star Wars: The Force Awakens. She kept on with consistent, high-quality work, starring in 2018 coming-of-age short film Melody as the titular role, and scoring main, recurring roles in two television series: ABC drama Of Kings and Prophets in 2016, and The CW superhero show DC’s Legends of Tomorrow from 2016 to 2020, before getting back on the big screen with this latest role in Netflix’s new Kissing Booth film. Clearly, Richardson-Sellers has impressive range and talent, and we absolutely cannot wait to see what she adds to this already fantastic filmography throughout the rest of her career.

WHERE YOU’LL SEE HER AGAIN: Have no fear, Richardson-Sellers fans, because the actress has more work on the way, and this time, she’ll be in a whole new role (or actually, a few of them!). Richardson-Sellers will be directing, writing, and executive producing short drama film Sunday’s Child, which is currently in post-production. Beyond that, we’re not sure what’s next project-wise for the star, but you can at least keep up to date with her work and life in the meantime by following her on Instagram and Twitter!
