Simon Pegg And Nick Frost Are Back in Amazon’s ‘Truth Seekers’ Teaser

As teased during today’s Comic-Con@Home panel, Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, the beloved team behind Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, Spaced and more are back together for Prime Video’s Truth Seekers — and you can watch the first teaser trailer for the series, above!

Co-created with Nat Saunders and James Serafinowicz, the eight episode series will premiere this Fall on Prime Video worldwide (no specific date announced), and focuses on a “team of part-time paranormal investigators who team up to uncover and film ghost sightings across the UK, sharing their adventures on an online channel for all to see.” In the vein of Hot Fuzz, the paranormal is a little realer than you might expect, and as the team investigates they discover a conspiracy that may bring about Armageddon. You know, normal stuff.

Though the teaser trailer doesn’t show Pegg and Frost together, you do get a glimpse of the mix of comedy and horror that the series will include, thanks to Frost boasting he’s been doing investigations for twenty years, followed by a high-pitched, “hello, ghosts?” and a cranky Malcolm McDowell seeming to float in the air, while actually sitting on a stair chair.

There are also plenty of scares, as well as stair chairs, as the teaser, er, teases some creepy creatures that’ll pop up throughout the series. Their distinct look is only made weirder by the pixelated nature of some of the ghosts and ghoulies — could this be a tech nightmare, instead of a supernatural one? We’ll just have to wait until UNSPECIFIED DATE IN 2020 to find out. Hey, unspecified date in 2020 is my birthday!

Nick Frost stars as Gus, Simon Pegg as Dave, Samson Kayo as Elton, Malcolm McDowell as Richard, Emma D’Arcy as Astrid, and Susan Wokoma as Helen. Truth Seekers is co-written by Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, Nat Saunders and James Serafinowicz who executive produce alongside Miles Ketley and Jim Field Smith, who also serves as director.
