HGTV’s royal couple is returning to the world of home renovation. This week, Chip and Joanna Gaines, stars of the wildly popular HGTV series Fixer Upper, announced that they will rebooting the show on their forthcoming Magnolia Network. The Fixer Upper reboot is set to launch in 2021 on Magnolia, which will take over Discovery’s DIY network after a rebrand.
Fixer Upper hasn’t aired new episodes for more than two years, so the reboot news should come as a very pleasant surprise to fans. However, considering that both the channel and the show don’t exist yet, many HGTV die hards have questions about Chip and Joanna Gaines’ network. When does the Magnolia Network begin? WHAT IS THE FIXER UPPER REBOOT?
Chip and Joanna Gaines’ Fixer Upper reboot will follow the contractor and designer as they update a new set of homes in the Texas area. The show originally aired for five seasons from 2014 to 2018 on HGTV, where it quickly became one of the most popular unscripted series on cable.

Magnolia Network is Chip and Joanna Gaines’ new collaboration with Discovery, who also owns HGTV. The network will be taking over for DIY Network (more on that below), another Discovery property, which will be rebranded to best reflect the Gaines’ style. In addition, Magnolia Network will showcase the duo’s commitment to home improvement and introduce viewers to new players in the area. WHEN DOES THE MAGNOLIA NETWORK BEGIN?
The new network was originally scheduled to debut on October 4, but the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic complicated things. Discovery has now pushed the rollout to early 2021; network president Allison Page tells Deadline that the official launch date will be announced in the coming months.

As of now, DIY Network is not available to stream on YouTube TV, and therefore it’s safe to assume that Magnolia Network is not, either. However, considering the Gaines’ popularity, as well as Discovery’s YouTube TV deal for other networks (HGTV, Discovery Channel), it’s possible that the two companies could come to an agreement to get Magnolia Network on YouTube TV ahead of its 2021 launch.
