‘Gold Rush’ Star Jesse Goins Dies at 60 From Reported On-Set Heart Attack

Jesse Goins, star of Discovery Channel’s Gold Rush: Dave Turin’s Lost Mine, has died at the age of 60. TMZ reports that Goins was found unconscious on set Tuesday night, and efforts to revive him were unsuccessful. The exact cause of death has yet to be revealed, but sources on the Gold Rush set believe that the reality star suffered a heart attack.

According to TMZ, Goins spent the early part of this week on the Colorado set of Gold Rush: Dave Turin’s Lost Mine. The miner worked in the gold room, where he separated the gold from other rock and cleaned it. Sources at the show report that on Tuesday night, a crew member found Goins unconscious just outside the room and called a medic, who administered CPR. EMTs then arrived and rushed Goins to a local hospital, but their efforts to revive him were unsuccessful.

Goins appeared in 15 episodes of Discovery’s Gold Rush spinoff series, which follows original crew member Dave Turin as he attempts to reopen abandoned mines located throughout the Western United States. Dave Turin’s Lost Mine originally premiered in 2019 with a season set in Prescott Valley, Arizona; Season 2 aired in early 2020 and was filmed in Marysville, Montana.

In the days since his death, Goins’ family and friends have voiced their grief on social media. “Heaven will never be the same!!” his brother, Larry Goins, wrote on Facebook. “My brother Jesse went home to be with his Father, Lord and Savior. He will be missed dearly. Love you brother.”

“Jesse loved his Gold Rush family,” Larry wrote in a subsequent post. “I could never find the words to express how grateful to Dave Turin and the guys for the love they showed him. And for sharing and making sure the Lord and the Gospel was a big part of his daily life. He was in such a good place because of this. Love you guys.”

Rest in peace, Jesse Goins. You will be missed.
