‘Fresh Prince of Bel-Air’ Reunion Special Coming to HBO Max

The Banks family is getting back together again to make this Thanksgiving especially memorable. To celebrate The Fresh Prince of Bel Air‘s 30 year anniversary, the cast of the ’90s sitcom is set to join together again for a celebratory reunion show debuting on HBO Max later this fall, Deadline reports.

The reunion is set to begin filming Sept. 10 and will premiere on HBO Max around Thanksgiving. All of the Fresh Prince stars are set to appear, including Will Smith, Tatyana Ali, Karyn Parsons, Joseph Marcell, Daphne Maxwell Reid, Alfonso Ribeiro and DJ Jazzy Jeff. The cast will look back on the series, which ran from 1990-1996, and discuss its legacy and impact along with some surprise guest stars, who will be joining in on the night of music, dancing and conversation. The special will be directed by Marcus Raboy, and showrunner Rikki Hughes will executive produce with Miguel Melendez, Lukas Kaiser, and Brad Haugen for Westbrook Media.

Although The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air first premiered decades ago, it’s been a busy year for the cast. They last appeared together in April for a virtual reunion on Smith’s Snapchat show, Will At Home. And earlier this month, it was revealed that the comedy is getting a drama reboot series from Jada Pinkett Smith and Will Smith’s Westbrook Studios and Universal Television. The project comes from a trailer made by cinematographer Morgan Cooper, which takes a gritty, darker look at the sitcom.

HBO Max’s Fresh Prince of Bel-Air special is the latest in a growing list of reunion shows set to premiere on the streaming platform. The’ve also lined up the long-awaited Friends special, which was first announced in February and has been postponed multiple times due to the coronavirus, and a reunion show from The West Wing cast, which is set to premiere this fall in an effort to increase voter turnout for the 2020 presidential election.
