‘Chadwick Boseman: Tribute for a King’ is Now Streaming on Disney+

ABC News’ critically-acclaimed special Chadwick Boseman: A Tribute for a King is now streaming on Disney+. Hosted by Robin Roberts, the special honors Black Panther star Chadwick Boseman, who passed away on Friday, August 28 after a yearslong battle with colon cancer.

Chadwick Boseman: A Tribute for a King – A Special Edition of 20/20 originally aired on Sunday, August 30. According to ABC’s official description, “the special celebrates Boseman’s storied life, legacy and career, and the cultural imprint he made on- and off-screen.” A Tribute for a King also features kind words from Boseman’s co-stars, fellow actors, political figures from around the world, and fans who will forever be impacted by his star turns in 42Black Panther, and most recently, Spike Lee’s Da 5 Bloods.

The ABC News special can be found on Disney+ under the “Extras” section on Marvel’s Black Panther. It is also currently available to stream on Hulu.

On Friday night, Boseman’s official Twitter account announced that the actor had died at the age of 43 following a private battle with cancer. “It is with immeasurable grief that we confirm the passing of Chadwick Boseman,” read the statement. “Chadwick was diagnosed with stage III colon cancer in 2016, and battled with it these last 4 years as it progressed to stage IV.”

“A true fighter, Chadwick persevered through it all, and brought you many of the films you have come to love so much,” it continued. “From Marshall, to Da 5 Bloods, August Wilson’s Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom and several more, all were filmed during and between countless surgeries and chemotherapy. It was the honor of his career to bring King T’Challa to life in Black Panther.”

“He died in his home, with his wife and family by his side. The family thanks you for your love and prayers, and asks that you continue to respect their privacy during this difficult time.”
