WHO IS MEI CHEN IN AWAY NETFLIX?
Mei Chen is a supporting character in Away, Netflix’s new astronaut drama. She only appears in select episodes of the series, but she is prominently featured in Episode 3, “Half the Sky,” when she promises her astronaut girlfriend, Lu, that she will wait for her to return from a three-year space mission.
MEI CHEN AWAY NETFLIX STORYLINE: LET’S TALK ABOUT ROMANCE!
In the week since Away first debuted, Mei Chen’s LGBTQ+ storyline has drawn praise from fans on social media. In Episode 3, viewers are given an inside-look at Mei’s relationship with Lu (Vivian Wu), an astronaut on Captain Emma Green’s crew. Mei and Lu are happily in love, but they’re also living under a certain amount of duress: Lu is currently stuck in a loveless marriage, and the two must keep their affair a secret from her partner.

MEET NADIA HATTA: AGE, WIKIPEDIA, PARENTS, AND MORE
Nadia Hatta doesn’t yet have a Wikipedia page, but it’s only a matter of time before she shoots into the cultural consciousness. Originally born in Taiwan, Hatta moved to Canada as a child and later set out to forge a career in the acting world. The star received a BFA ijn Acting/Theatre from New York University’s famed Tisch program; she has also studied at Amsterdam’s International Theatre School and the Roy Hart International Arts Centre in France.
Before landing a role in Away, Hatta starred in Babylon Fog (Ba Bi Lun Mi Wu) from acclaimed Chinese director Chuan Lu, Head Above Water, and TV series including Shootout and Head Above Water.
