The Conners is moving to a new night as ABC continues to shake up its primetime programming in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. ABC has announced that The Conners Season 3 will premiere on Wednesday, October 21, a shift from the show’s usual Tuesday air time. The new season was filmed under strict coronavirus protocol and will follow the beloved family as they grapple with the reality of the pandemic and adjust to their new normal.
According to ABC, The Conners Season 3 will “continue to follow America’s favorite family as they face the daily struggles of life in Lanford. Dan, Jackie, Darlene, Becky and D.J. will continue to grapple with parenthood, dating, financial pressures and aging in working-class America. Through it all — the fights, the coupon cutting, the hand-me-downs, the breakdowns — with love, humor and perseverance, the family prevails.”
In a new promo released for Season 3, Dan Conner (John Goodman), Jackie Harris (Laurie Metcalf), Darlene Conner (Sara Gilbert), Becky Conner-Healy (Lecy Goranson), D.J. Conner (Michael Fishman), Harris Conner-Healy (Emma Kenney), Mark Conner-Healy (Ames McNamara), Mary Conner (Jayden Rey), and Ben (Jay R. Ferguson) attempt to carry on with their lives amid the COVID-19 pandemic. “Let’s just be happy we’re working,” a face shield-wearing Becky tells Darlene. When Darlene dismisses the comment — “Easier said than done,” she says — Becky draws a smile on her clear face shield. If that doesn’t describe the state of Hollywood amid the pandemic, what does?
“We’re Conners, and we’re going to get through this the way we always do,” promises Dan. “We’re going to watch TV, we’re going to drink beer, and we’re going to blame all our troubles on the government.” Yep, The Conners are back!
The Conners is executive produced by Roseanne alum Tom Werner alongside Sara Gilbert, Bruce Helford, Dave Caplan, Bruce Rasmussen, and Tony Hernandez. The sitcom hails from Werner Entertainment.
The Conners Season 3 premieres Wednesday, October 21 at 9/8c on ABC. New episodes will be available to stream on demand and on Hulu the following day.
