Cobra Kai never dies… it thrives.

Netflix announced a one-two punch of kick-ass Cobra Kai news: The hotly-anticipated third season of the popular Karate Kid continuation will premiere Friday, January 8, 2021 on the streamer, and the series has already been renewed for Season 4!

The early renewal comes as no surprise as Cobra Kai has blossomed into a certified hit for Netflix. The William Zabka/Ralph Macchio-led revival of the iconic Karate Kid franchise has not only been a fixture in Netflix’s Top 10 list since its premiere, but Deadline reports that Cobra Kai dominated the Nielsen streaming charts from August 31 to September 6, drawing nearly 2.2 billion streaming minutes. That number is even more impressive when you consider that the second place show on the list, Lucifer, earned 1.4 billion streaming minutes.

The third season, which finished production in early 2020, was originally expected to debut in the spring of 2020, but Cobra Kai’s move from YouTube to Netflix postponed the Season 3 release date. The series has garnered near-universal acclaim from both fans and critics, currently boasting a 94% Tomatometer score on Rotten Tomatoes.
