‘Schitt’s Creek’ Season 6 Premieres Early on Netflix

The final sixth season of the Emmy award-winning sitcom Schitt’s Creek has arrived early on Netflix. The Pop TV original series was initially slated to debut on the streaming platform on October 7th.

Creator and star Dan Levy tweeted the news Saturday morning, writing: “Surprise! Season 6 & the Best Wishes, Warmest Regards documentary just dropped early on Netflix! Have a great weekend!”

The celebrated series finale won seven awards at the recent 2020 Emmy Awards and two at the Creative Arts Emmys, achieving the record for most wins in a single season for a comedy series. It also became the first comedy to ever sweep all four main comedy acting categories, in both lead and both supporting categories, in a single season.

The show’s nine total wins for Season 6 broke the record of eight that Amazon’s The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel won in 2018 and again in 2019.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Canadian show scored the following accolades:

Best Comedy Series
Best Actor in a Comedy Series (Eugene Levy)
Best Actress in a Comedy Series (Catherine O’Hara)
Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series (Daniel Levy)
Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series (Annie Murphy)
Best Directing for a Comedy Series (Andrew Cividino and Daniel Levy)
Best Writing for a Comedy Series (Daniel Levy)
Best Casting for a Comedy Series (Jon Comerford and Lisa Parasyn)
Best Contemporary Costumes (Darci Cheyne and Debra Hanson)
