Nick Jonas is out and Gwen Stefani will be reclaiming her red chair on tonight’s season premiere of The Voice. Stefani joins Blake Shelton, John Legend, and Kelly Clarkson as judges for the new season, and Carson Daly will return as host.

The Voice will air weekly on Mondays and Tuesdays at 8/7c on NBC.

WHAT WILL BE DIFFERENT THIS SEASON?

Aside from Jonas’s departure, what other changes can fans expect when season 19 of The Voice comes back to our screens
tonight? All new musical advisers and a slightly different audition process, owing to safety protocols in place to protect the cast and crew against Covid-19 infection.

Musicians Leon Bridges, Julia Michaels, Miguel, Kane Brown, and Usher are scheduled to appear on the show as the advisors to all of the contestants, and there will be an audience, though they will not be live in the studio, instead their faces will appear on screens behind the judges. Carson Daly and the judges have been diligent about wearing masks around set, and temperature checks, hand sanitizing, and a no-touching policy is also in effect, meaning the judges can’t hug their mentees.

WHAT ELSE CAN YOU TELL ME ABOUT SEASON 19?

We know that the first blind auditions were taped on set in August, and as you can see from the video above, there has been some fierce competition (between the judges, that is) because the talent pool has been so impressive. According to the show’s site, there’s also going to be another big twist when it comes to the traditional structure of the show making all the more competitive. The site reveals that “the four artists that were saved by their individual coaches during the Battle Rounds will not automatically advance in the competition. Instead, those artists will compete in the first Four-Way Knockout.”

WHEN WILL THE VOICE BE ON HULU?

New episodes of The Voice premiere on Hulu the day after airing, in season, five episodes at a time. So you won’t be able to see past seasons, and three weeks in the premiere will disappear. Point being, gotta catch ’em quick. You can also watch The Voice live on Hulu with a Hulu+ Live TV subscription, on NBC.
