Jamie Foxx To Play A Vampire-Hunting Dad In Netflix’s ‘Day Shift’

Oscar-winner Jamie Foxx has a new gig at Netflix, starring in and executive producing the upcoming series Day Shift. In the new vampire comedy, Foxx will portray a humble, blue collar dad to an 8-year-old daughter. By day he is a San Fernando Valley pool cleaner, but by night, he hunts and kills vampires.

Day Shift is based on a 2017 Slamdance Writing Competition grand prize winner of the same name, penned by Tyler Tice. Tice wrote the script for the series as well, along with revisions from Shay Hatten. Hatten has previously penned John Wick: Parabellum. JJ Perry, the director attached to the series, has worked on the Fast and Furious films and was a stunt coordinator and second unit director on the John Wick series.

The series will be produced by Chad Stahelski, who also produced, you guessed it, the John Wick series. What we’re guessing (hoping?) from all these John Wick affiliations is that Day Shift will feature artfully choreographed and excessively bloody vampire deaths.

Foxx has most recently appeared in Netflix’s Project Power, which came out August 14 and co-starred Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Dominique Fishback. He is also co-starring in and producing two more projects for Netflix, the film They Cloned Tyrone and Dad Stop Embarrassing Me, a multi-camera comedy series co-starring Kyla-Drew and David Alan Grier.
