Sara Haines Brings ‘The View’ to a Standstill Laughing About Jeffrey Toobin’s Indecent Exposure

The hosts of The View were thrilled to have a Hot Topic today that had nothing to do with politics. When Whoopi Goldberg brought up the news that lawyer and writer Jeffrey Toobin was suspended from his job at The New Yorker after getting caught masturbating on a Zoom call with his colleagues, co-host Sara Haines had an unlikely reaction: an uncontrollable fit of laughter.

“I usually leave multitasking to women, but this gear switch could only be done by a man,” Haines said when the mic was tossed to her, and she immediately got a case of the giggles that she couldn’t shake after her wordplay. She added, “This was during an election simulation, which is — I’m sorry — the most unsexy thing I’ve ever heard of. And I’m not going to be able to unsee this. I very much miss the days when Jennifer went to the bathroom and forgot to turn off her camera.”

Look, we get it. The situation is insane. It is peak 2020, the fact that even from the comfort of homes, men are cleverly finding ways to sexualize and sexually harass co-workers via conference call.  The absurdity deserves to be acknowledged. Though she tried to pivot her tone to discussing the seriousness of a man exposing himself on-camera to his colleagues, she couldn’t shake the laughter and continued to try and suppress it for a few moments while Whoopi, Joy Behar, and Sunny Hostin looked on.

While Sara stayed relatively quiet for the rest of the segment after she pulled herself together, Twitter was like, Sara, we get you, girl.

Not all viewers thought it was funny, though.

Haines responded to critics in real time, tweeting “In a perfect world, I could have remained calm, cool and collected…but I didn’t have that in me. And I needed that laugh.”
