‘Teenage Bounty Hunters’ Fans Are Pushing Hard To Uncancel Their Show

After Netflix pulled the plug on Teenage Bounty Hunters after only one season, the show’s loyal fans are stepping up and launching a campaign in hopes of saving the comedy. One especially dedicated group has launched a website, SaveTeenageBountyHunters.com, and even crafted up their own press release to promote the cause and keep Jenji Kohan’s quirky series in production.

The Oct. 13 release pleads the case to film more seasons of Teenage Bounty Hunters, praising the show’s exploration of themes like “female sexuality, masturbation, sex, sexuality, faith, shame, racism, and morality” and use of “local Atlanta talent for its crew and supporting characters.” The fans also reference cast members’s “desire to film a season two,” pointing to the actors who have shared “fan-generated memes, videos, and initiatives created to boost the show that some fans, many of whom are teenagers, say saved their lives.”

The fight to save the show has been amplified on Twitter, where devoted Teenage Bounty Hunters followers are campaigning to reverse the Netflix cancellation. The #SaveTeenageBountyHunters hashtag is all over the website, with tweets like “I need more teenage bounty hunters. I love the show so much” flooding the platform.

Comedian Paul F. Tompkins even joined in on Twitter, writing, “Finished Teenage Bounty Hunters today and I’m sad I don’t have more to watch. Cannot understand why it wasn’t renewed. Someone should snap it up NOW. It’s really funny and sharp and even sweet. Terrific writing and acting. I don’t get how you let that go after just one season!”

Some fans are trying a different tactic, pleading with Hulu to pick up the series after the streaming platform announced it would be premiering Kristen Stewart’s Happiest Season. One wrote, “Hello @hulu, I am a subscriber asking you to pick up Teenage Bounty Hunters. This show has great writing, acting, and storyline, and you already have a large existing fan base. It is a show for ALL AGES,” while another added, ” @hulu understands the importance of LGBTQ stories. One of the many reasons we love the possibility of Teenage Bounty Hunters finding a home there.”

Other fans are reaching out to platforms like Apple TV+ and Showtime to give the series a new home. Despite the growing movement to save the show, Netflix has not issued a public response or an update on the fate of Teenage Bounty Hunters, and other streaming platforms have yet to comment on the fans’ growing requests.
