Why Charlie Brown Holiday Specials Are Not on TV This Year

It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown! first premiered in on October 27, 1966 on CBS and has been an annual staple on television ever since. Until now.

CBS aired the special for decades, until ABC acquired the rights 20 years ago and continued the annual tradition. But it has not been programmed on the ABC schedule this year due to Apple TV+ acquiring exclusive rights to both the Great Pumpkin and A Charlie Brown Christmas. So does this mean there will be no Charlie Brown holidays this year, or what?

CAN I WATCH IT’S THE GREAT PUMPKIN, CHARLIE BROWN ON NETWORK TV THIS YEAR?

No, they are exclusively available on Apple TV+ as of now. It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown is available now for Apple TV+ subscribers and will be made available for free for non-subscribers from October 30-November 1.

IT THAT THE SAME DEAL FOR A CHARLIE BROWN CHRISTMAS?

WHAT IF I DON’T LIKE HOLIDAYS?

For those of you who prefer your Peanuts without any holiday fanfare, Apple TV+ is the streaming home for all available Peanuts content, from classics like 1980’s Bon Voyage, Charlie Brown, to the Daytime-Emmy-Award-winning children’s series, Snoopy In Space.
