As usual, Star Trek: Discovery has wasted no time blasting through its plot. Though the galaxy may be down a ton of Dilithium crystals thanks to an event called The Burn, where most shows would take a whole season to reunite Commander Michael Burnham (Sonequa Martin-Green) and the crew of the Discovery, CBS All Access’ show did it at the end of this week’s episode. I’m crying, you’re crying, nobody is not crying.

Okay, to be fair, it wasn’t exactly a reunion, as Burnham was only glimpsed on a view-screen. So when will we, the viewers, be treated to those sweet, sweet Star Trek hugs? Read on to find out when Star Trek: Discovery Season 3, Episode 3 premieres on CBS All Access.

Can you give me a quick Star Trek: Discovery Season 3 recap (so far)?

Since there have only been two episodes? No problem. Talk to me later in the season when we potentially get to the “time crystals will protect the sphere date from Control so we can track down the seven signals” level of later episodes of Season 2? Maybe problem.

So, after Burnham used time crystals to protect the sphere date from Control, she sent the last of the seven signals through a wormhole back in time to alert her brother Spock (Ethan Peck) that she was okay. Or put more simply, Burnham is now trapped 930 years in her future, in the year 3188. There, she met a guy named Cleveland “Book” Booker (David Ajala), who seemed to be a rogue but actually is some sort of plant/animal empath. He works as a Courier, transporting goods and services between planets trapped after The Burn.

What is The Burn, you say? It’s an event that happened about a century earlier that destroyed most of the Dilithium in the galaxy, hobbling faster-than-light travel and basically dissolving The Federation overnight.

In Episode 2, we caught up with the Discovery, who, er, discovered all this info for themselves as they battled twin threats: actually roguish Couriers who were squeezing a mining town for all they’ve got; and the fact that Discovery needed to completely repair their ship with a skeleton crew of 89 people. Naturally, they succeeded at both things, discovered some cool, new tech in the process, and found Burnham. Yay!
