Is There Nudity in ‘After We Collided’? Here’s Why It’s Rated R

It’s the day that all After fans have been waiting for. After We Collidedthe sequel to the 2019 romance, is finally here, bringing us the second chapter of Tessa (Josephine Langford) and Hardin’s (Hero Fiennes-Tiffin) love story. This time around, we’re getting more drama, bigger fights and even steamier sex scenes, plus a new costar — hi, Dylan Sprouse!

We’re in the same universe as the first movie, but After We Collided comes with a few changes. Fans of 2019’s After may remember that it was rated PG-13, but the sequel is kicking things up a notch, earning itself an R rating from the MPAA. There are plenty of sex scenes in Anna Todd’s “After” book series that the films are based on, but the first movie toned some of it down. Todd worked on the screenplay for After We Collided, and when it came to the sequel, the writers weren’t holding anything back.

Curious about why After We Collided is rated R? Wondering how much nudity is featured in the film? Before you watch, here’s everything you need to know about the After We Collided rating:

WHY IS AFTER WE COLLIDED RATED R?

After We Collided is more intense than the first After film. Its R rating comes from sexual content, language, and some “drug material.” You can expect to see some sex scenes (it’s part of the After franchise, so it comes with the territory), and hear some profanity, with words like “fuck” and “shit” in the screenplay. As for “drug material,” there’s some drinking in the movie, but no heavy drug use.

IS THERE NUDITY IN AFTER WE COLLIDED?

There is nudity in the second After film, but the camera is careful not to show too much. The most you’ll see is the movie’s bare butt scene, where Fiennes-Tiffin bares his behind in the shower toward the end of the film. Fans who were lucky enough to see the film last month (it was released in some countries Sept. 2) were thrilled with the scene, with one writing, “hero’s ass was all i wanted to see.” Other than that brief shot, you’ll also see some glimpses of skin in a few of the film’s sex scenes, but nothing graphic.
