And after last night’s debate, we could not need them more! New Movies and Shows to Stream This Weekend: The Queen’s Gambit, Borat Subsequent Moviefilm, and Bad Hair

Let’s cut to the chase: one of the biggest titles — not to mention entertainment legends — is returning to the screen this weekend in Borat Subsequent Moviefilm a.k.a Borat 2. Amazon Prime rushed to piece this insane movie together in time for the election and we could not be more grateful they did so. But after you’ve watched Sacha Baron Cohen mix it up six or seven times this weekend, be sure to check out the other new movies and shows on streaming, such as Anya Taylor-Joy’s limited drama The Queen’s Gambit on Netflix or the satirical horror film Bad Hair on Hulu. New on Netflix October 23: The Queen’s Gambit

Anya Taylor-Joy stars in The Queen’s Gambit, the dramatic limited series new on Netflix this weekend. Based on the novel by Walter Tevis, The Queen’s Gambit follows the story of Beth Harmon (Taylor-Joy), a young woman who was found in an orphanage as a child with an impressive affinity for chess. As she gets older, not only does she start to dominate in the primarily-male world of chess, but she also engages in a battle of her own through a narcotics addiction. But which fight will win out? Deep, insightful and tragic, The Queen’s Gambit is not only one of the 11 best new movies to watch on Netflix, it is also one top titles to watch this month.

New on Amazon Prime Video October 23: Borat Subsequent Moviefilm

After 14 years of patiently waiting, our favorite Kazakh is back in Borat Subsequent Moviefilm new on Amazon Prime — and it could not have come out at a better time. Sacha Baron Cohen returns as the titular character who has just been freed from prison for bringing shame to his country. Now, with his 15-year-old daughter (played brilliantly by Maria Bakalova), Borat must to return to America to help the Kazakhstan leader make inroad with Trump and Pence. Sounds like an airtight plan to me, right? Just like in the original, this bonkers film features unmatched antics such as hanging out with QAnon members, visiting a Christian “pregnancy crisis center,” and not to mention that scandalous Rudy Giuliani scene! At a time where humor seems out of reach, Borat Subsequent Moviefilm proves that satire and “gotcha” comedy is still alive and has a place in America. And after the year we are having, watching a comedy like this feels “very nice!”

New on Hulu October 23: Bad Hair

New on Hulu this weekend is Bad Hair, a film that really takes the term “bad hair day” to a whole other level. This horror satire from writer and director Justin Simien (Dear White People) tells the story of a black woman whose new hair weave seems to take on a life of its own. People have choked on hair before, but no one’s hair has even been as deadly of a weapon as this.
