After We Collided
After We Collided is finally here, and it’s got everything we could have asked for: there’s romance, a little bit of heartbreak, and of course, a popular bare butt scene. The sequel to After picks up where Tessa (Josephine Langford) and Hardin (Hero Fiennes Tiffin) left off, with Tessa beginning her internship at a publishing house, and Hardin trying his best for a second chance to get back together with her.
Complicating things is the addition of a possible new love interest for Tessa, Trevor (Dylan Sprouse). After We Collided follows the on-again, off-again relationship between Tessa and Hardin as it’s tested yet again. The second After film also stars Selma Blair and Candace King, and author Anna Todd signed on this time to help craft the script. The film is also steamier than the first, earning an R rating after the PG-13 After.
But if you’re here, it means you’ve likely already watched After We Collided and are looking for another romance as a chaser to the film. The good news is, there’s more in the After universe where that came from. In fact, we’ve got not only one, but two more sequels lined up. We’ll just have to wait a little while to see them. Here’s what to watch to pass the time while you wait for After 3 and After 4.
'After'
Of course, if you haven’t seen the original, you need to watch it! After, the film that started it all, premiered just last year, but had us all immediately hooked on the love story of Tessa and Hardin based on the book by Anna Todd. Tessa (Josephine Langford), a college student, falls for the bad boy, Hardin (Hero Fiennes Tiffin), and the rest, as they say, is history.
'To All the Boys I've Loved Before'
Like After We Collided, Netflix’s To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before is also based on a book — we have author Jenny Han to thank for this one. The 2018 rom-com follows Lara Jean (Lana Condor), a high schooler who wrote love letters to her crushes, but never expected them to actually be sent out. Everything changes when the letters reach their recipients, and Lara Jean falls for someone she never expected.
'The Kissing Booth'
The Kissing Booth, another Netflix original rom-com, follows the love life of Elle (Joey King), whose one kiss with Noah (Jacob Elordi), her best friend’s older brother — also a bad boy character like After We Collided‘s Hardin — leads to a romance neither could have predicted. And after you stream this one, you can queue up the sequel, The Kissing Booth 2, next.
'Five Feet Apart'
Cole Sprouse and Haley Lu Richardson star in Five Feet Apart, a romance about two teenagers who share the same illness. Stella (Richardson) is often in the hospital as a cystic fibrosis patient, used to the routines and monotony of her life there. But when she meets Will (Sprouse), who has the same disease, the two find an instant connection. The film comes from Jane the Virgin star and director Justin Baldoni, and was inspired by real-life cystic fibrosis patient Claire Wineland.
'Sierra Burgess Is A Loser'
Sierra Burgess Is a Loser follows an unpopular high school student named Sierra (Shannon Purser) who spends her time focused on grades and extracurriculars so she can secure a Stanford University acceptance letter. Thanks to a wrong number mix-up, she finds herself texting with Jamey (Noah Centineo), a football player who thinks he’s talking to another girl, Veronica. The two begin to flirt over their texts, and Sierra falls for Jamey, although he doesn’t know it’s her behind the screen.
'One Day'
One Day, a 2011 romantic drama based on the David Nicholls novel of the same name, follows Emma (Anne Hathaway) and Dexter (Jim Sturgess) over twenty years, chronicling the two friends’ lives as they go through ups and downs, meeting each year on the same day, July 15. Although they start out as friends, they can’t deny the connection they have, and soon they admit that they’re only meant for each other.
'The Spectacular Now'
2013’s The Spectacular Now follows Sutter (Miles Teller) and Aimee (Shailene Woodley) an unlikely couple. The two meet after Sutter wakes up on a front lawn after passing out drunk there the night before. While Aimee is an introverted student, Sutter is a hard-partying senior who’s just been dumped by his girlfriend. The two begin a relationship that gets more serious over time, but their romance is tested by their different goals for the future.
