‘Below Deck’ Charter Guest Charley Walters Defends Behavior as “Drama for the Show”

If you woke up with your jaw still clenched after that episode of Below Deck, you aren’t alone. And, according to the nightmare primary guest himself, Charley Walters, that was kinda the goal!

Charley, who is the owner of the CW3 public relations company, must be fairly pleased with his appearance (hey, it got a mention for his business here already so that’s a win!). But he also seemed to have even more fun scrolling through his Twitter feed while the episode aired on Bravo than he actually did while he was part of the luxury trip aboard the yacht.

But according to him, his repeatedly douchey behavior was all for the cameras. When asked if his group was “just trying to be as demanding and shitty as possible for TV,” he replied, “You THINK?” with the crying tears of joy emoji.

He also went on to say that he was told to “act like a piece of s**t to the crew” because “That’s what makes the show,” and that he was encouraged to be demanding.

And while he took being named the worst guests as a compliment, he also took the time to credit himself as “The Miranda Priestly of the Sea.”

And while it’s one thing to send back plates or be picky about theme parties, the fact that he took the opportunity to jump behind the bar to make drinks or head to the galley to slice up a keto chocolate cake, well, that was all for the money too, baby. Charley answered another tweet by saying “the residual $ bump if you pass a threshold of lines is not bad over time.” Judging by what we’ve already seen, he must’ve made BANK from this charter.

He also offered insight into their requested dinner that included dishes from all over the world, saying, “You are told to come up with the most extravagant orders you can think of.” Check! He also agreed with most viewers, that “If I didn’t know me I’d HATE me after that one!!”

Ultimately, and despite the fact that the wild demands lead to two crew members crying during their very first charter, Charley says he is all good with the crew, tweeting, “Ask any of the crew now, we are friends with most and had some great king times that you won’t see as it doesn’t make interesting TV.”

I mean, judging from his tweets reacting to the episode, he seems to have a decent sense of humor sooo… yeah, I would rather watch the boring stuff than the thirsty, fake sincerity of “helping” the crew. No word on why Charley’s pals got into a massive argument over the potential of hooking up with deckhand James Hough (or how much screentime and therefore cash it earned them), but hopefully he put his money where his mouth is and leaves a generous tip when his group docks and exits the boat in next week’s episode.

Below Deck airs Monday at 9pm ET/PT on Bravo.
