With one glance through their library of cooking competitions, home and real estate shows, and dating series, you’d think Netflix had exhausted every theme in the reality TV genre by now. But now that we’ve seen We Are the Champions, we’re not so sure. The new docuseries takes a look at some of the quirkiest competitions in the world and introduces us to the passionate communities who keep hosting them year after year.
Never heard of cheese rolling? What about frog jumping? We Are the Champions is here to fix that. Over the course of six episodes, the show travels from places like California all the way to England, all in search of the world’s weirdest showdowns. And with each competition, we’ve got our reliable narrator to guide us through it all. While we never see him, we get to know his voice pretty well by the end of the series, which has got us thinking: who is the We Are the Champions narrator?

WHO IS THE WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS NARRATOR?
We Are the Champions‘ narrator guides us through some whacky competitions, placing the focus more on his subjects than himself, but he’s pretty famous, too. The man behind the show is actor Rainn Wilson, who’s well-known for playing The Office‘s beet farmer/paper salesman Dwight Schrute, a role which earned him three Emmy nominations.
There’s plenty more to Wilson than just his Office character, though. The 54-year-old actor, who is originally from Seattle, Washington, is also a producer and a writer, publishing his autobiography The Bassoon King: My Life in Art, Faith and Idiocy in 2015, and co-founding the company SoulPancake in 2008. Wilson is married to author Holiday Reinhorn, and the two share a son named Walter.
WHAT ELSE HAS RAINN WILSON BEEN IN?
The Office ended in 2013, but Wilson has been working steadily since then. If you’re not an Office fan but recognize Wilson’s voice and can’t quite remember what from, it’s likely you’ve seen him in Backstrom, Star Trek: Discovery, The Meg, Room 104, Mom or Utopia. Wilson has also acted in Adventure Time, Six Feet Under, My Super Ex-Girlfriend, Juno, and Super. Next up for the actor is the TV series The Power, which he’ll star in alongside Leslie Mann and John Leguizamo.
