New on Netflix this weekend is If Anything Happens I Love You, a heart-wrenching and sentimental short film about a family trying to rebuild after a devastating loss. It centers on two grieving parents who must navigate through an emotional abyss after they lose their daughter in a school shooting. Written and directed by Michael Govier and Will McCormack, this animated movie creates art from the pain that parents all around the country experience every year thanks to countless school shootings. Raw, emotional yet understated, If Anything Happens I love You is a tearjerker of a short film with a very important message. Between the suspicious “medications,” hidden identities, physical blockades and more, this mystery film starring Sarah Paulson and Kiera Allen will keep you at the edge of your seat— right until the shocking end.

Small Axe is a new incredible drama anthology series about ordinary people doing extraordinary things to bring justice to their West Indian community. Inspired by real-life events, each film installment in the anthology centers on one person who must show courage, resilience and faith to overcome injustice and enact vital change in the shared community. Small Axe is inspiring to say the least, and this television debut by Academy Award winning director Steve McQueen stars incredible powerhouses including John Boyega (The Force Awakens), Letitia Wright (Black Panther), Malachi Kirby (Roots) and more.
