Vera Farmiga, Florence Pugh to Join Hailee Steinfeld and Jeremy Renner in ‘Hawkeye’

Disney+‘s Marvel series Hawkeye is rounding out its cast, Variety reports. The upcoming series is set to star Jeremy Renner and Hailee Steinfeld as leads, along with Vera Farmiga, Florence Pugh, Fra Fee, Tony Dalton, Alaqua Cox, and Zahn McClarnon.

Renner has been previously confirmed as the titular character, Avenger Hawkeye/Clint Barton, and Steinfeld will be joining him as Kate Bishop, who eventually takes over as Hawkeye in the comics. Farmiga is set to play Steinfeld’s mom, the Marvel character Eleanor Bishop.

Fee, who has appeared in 2012’s Les Misérables and Animals, will star as Kazi, a character who is likely Kazimierz Kazimierczak/Clown, while Dalton, who is known for his role as Lalo Salamanca on Better Call Saul, will play Jack Duquesne, Hawkeye’s mentor.

Pugh, who is set to star in another upcoming Marvel project, the Scarlett Johansson film Black Widow, will reprise her role from the movie as spy and assassin Yelena Belova, Black Widow’s sister. We can expect to see her in the role when Black Widow hits theaters next summer after being pushed back multiple times due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Joining Fee, Dalton and Pugh is Cox, who is set to play Maya Lopez/Echo, a “formidable fighter” who is a deaf, Native American character who can perfectly imitate other people’s movements. McClarnon will take on the role of William Lopez, Maya’s father, who is known as Willie “Crazy Horse” Lincoln in comics.

Hawkeye, which comes from Mad Men‘s Jonathan Igla, recently began production in Atlanta and New York, giving us a sneak peek at the leads in character. Troop Zero‘s Amber Finlayson and Katie Ellwood are set to direct the series, along with Saturday Night Live‘s Rhys Thomas. Hawkeye is just one of six Marvel series in the works at Disney+. WandaVision, starring Elizabeth Olson and Paul Bettany, is set to premiere on the streaming service in January, with Falcon & The Winter Soldier and Loki coming later next year.
