‘One Day at a Time’ is Officially Over After Four Seasons

One Day at a Time has come to an end after four seasons across two networks. Co-creators Gloria Calderón Kellett and Mike Royce confirmed on Twitter Tuesday night that ODAAT will not be revived following its cancellation at Pop TV two weeks ago.

It’s officially over. There will be no new One Day at a Time episodes,” wrote Calderón Kellett. “But there will always be 46 episodes that we got to make that live FOREVER. Thank you to this beautiful cast. Our dedicated crew. And to you, our loyal fans. We loved making this for you. Thank you for watching.”

So much love coming our way for doing something we LOVED doing. Thank you!” she wrote in a subsequent tweet. “I wouldn’t change one thing about One Day at a Time I can honestly say I was present for every moment of it. ‘We’re making a show,’ is something I would always say while we were taping. We did that!”

Royce added that One Day at a Time‘s four seasons “will forever exist for people to watch” despite the cancellation. “I’m so proud of One Day at a Time, our cast, our writers, our crew, and while I’m sad today, I’ll forever be grateful for the amazing experience and honor it was to work on it,” he wrote.

Just as they did after Netflix canceled the sitcom in early 2019, ODAAT fans mourned the loss of the series on Twitter. “ODAAT is officially over and I’m fricken heartbroken,” wrote one fan. “Meaningless white shows like Emily in Paris and Riverdale get renewed but important shows like ODAAT get cancelled,” said another. “I see how it is & I’m tired of seeing it.”

A reboot of Norman Lear’s classic ’70s sitcom, One Day at a Time debuted on Netflix in 2017 and immediately became a critical darling. The comedy ran for three seasons before it was canceled in early 2019, only to be rescued by Pop TV after a fan-driven campaign. After airing its fourth season on Pop this spring, ODAAT was canceled again in late November. In the weeks since, the ODAAT creative team and producer Sony Pictures Television has attempted to shop the comedy elsewhere, but clearly, they were unable to find an interested buyer.

There may not be any new episodes of One Day at a Time in the pipeline, but fans can still watch Seasons 1-3 on Netflix. The sitcom’s fourth and final season is available to stream on Pop TV with a cable log-in.
