This West Coast holiday flick is sure to warm your heart — and it comes with a real-life romantic story, too.

A wealthy businessman treks to a California farm to convince a hardworking farmer to fess up her land. He’s yearning for a promotion — this massive piece of land should impress his boss enough to get the prize. But when he arrives, he’s mistaken for the new ranch hand: a perfect disguise. In order to convince the owner, he pretends to assist her on the farm, slowly convincing her to sell the whole plot. Try as he might, the suave businessman might just be charmed by the farmer herself.

If you thought that chemistry was too good to be acting, you’re right — Callie and Joseph are played by real-life spouses Lauren and Josh Swickard. Lauren, originally Lorynn York, met Josh when they were both filming the Netflix film Roped in 2017, which was released earlier this year on the platform. Sparks flew between the two, and just a few years later, the couple was engaged.

In A California Christmas, the pair play archenemies-turned-lovers. Joseph is a wealthy businessman; Callie is a diligent farmer. They shouldn’t get along, but the chemistry between them is undeniable.
