While much of the discourse surrounding Ryan Murphy’s latest Netflix film The Prom has been dedicated to James Corden’s (a straight man) role as a gay man, a new trending topic is emerging from the musical movie as fans can’t help but notice that the film’s star, Jo Ellen Pellman, looks an awful lot like another famous woman.
As soon as The Prom premiered on Netflix, Twitter erupted with comparisons between Pellman and Drew Barrymore, with some users even wondering if The Prom star was Barrymore’s long-lost daughter. “Jo Ellen Pellman from The Prom is basically baby Drew Barrymore,” one wrote, while another added, “Jo Ellen is giving me young Drew Barrymore vibes.” Others took one glimpse at Pellman and immediately pegged her as a lookalike of The Handmaid’s Tale actress Elisabeth Moss.

Jo Ellen Pellman is the star of Netflix’s The Prom, in which she plays Emma. Pellman’s character just wants to go to the prom like any other high school student, but the dance is canceled when she asks to bring her girlfriend, inciting outrage in her conservative, small town community. But when four Broadway stars show up to help her dreams of attending the prom come true, everything begins to change.

Pellman is 25 years old, according to Glamour, and is from Cincinnati, Ohio.
IS JO ELLEN PELLMAN RELATED TO DREW BARRYMORE?
While fans were adamant that Jo Ellen Pellman looks like Drew Barrymore, it turns out that their resemblance is just a coincidence, not a shared family tree. Don’t believe us? With one look at Pellman’s Instagram, we’ve got proof. The Prom actress posted a photo last year with the caption “Mom appreciation post,” and the woman holding her in the picture is not Barrymore. Mystery solved!
Barrymore does have daughters of her own, though, but none of them snagged the lead in Murphy’s new movie. The Drew Barrymore Show host is mom to two little girls with her ex-husband Will Kopelman, Olive, who was born in 2012, and Frankie, who was born in 2014.
