7 Shows Like ‘The Wilds’

To say The Wilds is easy to binge is an understatement. The new Prime Video teen drama is packed with mystery and dishes out one twist after another as a group of girls stranded on a remote island fight to stay alive and hope for rescue. It’s not just any other survival tale, though — we soon learn that their plane crash was orchestrated by a researcher hoping to prove that women are more capable at creating a society than men, and she’s been watching every minute of their struggle through hidden cameras.

Starring Sophia Ali, Shannon Berry, Jenna Clause, Reign Edwards, Mia Healey, Helena Howard, Erana James, and Sarah Pidgeon as the eight survivors, The Wilds also features Rachel Griffiths as the lead researcher behind the twisted Dawn of Eve project. The show has been renewed for a second season which hopefully will deliver answers to all of the questions we’re still left wondering about after that jaw-dropping Season 1 finale.

We don’t yet know when The Wilds Season 2 will premiere on Prime Video, but we do have some suggestions to pass the time while you wait. Here are seven shows like The Wilds to watch next.

1

'Lost'

Though it’s admittedly an obvious comparison to The Wilds, the long-running ABC drama is pretty close to Prime Video’s new hit series. For one, both shows rely on the “stranded on a desert island” premise, and both the survivors of Oceanic Flight 815 and the Unsinkable Eight are left there to fend for themselves after tragic plane crashes. While The Wilds is more of a teen drama, Lost is still sure to capture viewers who were hooked by the survival mystery.

'The Society'

Netflix’s The Society was canceled far too soon after only one season, but if you’re looking for another binge after The Wilds, this one is just as whacky and suspenseful. The teens of West Ham, Connecticut, are left to create their own society after everyone else in the town disappears without a trace. Left to their own devices, they struggle to create a form of functioning government, a system to ration their food, and a working hospital to keep them healthy. And on top of all of that, they’re still teens looking to let loose and have a good time. It’s part high school drama and part survival story, and you’re likely to gobble up all 10 episodes at once.

'Spinning Out'

The Wilds isn’t exactly subtle about exposing teen trauma, and Spinning Out doesn’t tread lightly, either. The skating drama stars Kaya Scodelario as figure skater Kat Baker, a recently injured athlete who jumps at the chance to get back into the sport by skating with a new partner, Justin Davis (Evan Roderick). While she’s found her way back onto the ice, Kat is still hiding a deep secret that could destroy her hopes of competing at the Olympics one day.

'Outer Banks'

No desert island here, although there is a hidden treasure. Netflix’s Outer Banks was an instant hit when it premiered in the spring, and the teen drama is sure to entertain fans of The Wilds who haven’t checked it out already. When John B’s dad disappears, he’s left to uncover the mystery his father dedicated his life to. Setting off on his boat with his friends, The Pogues, John B discovers a stash of gold that changes his life forever. It’s got drama, mystery and romance, and even better, it’s coming back for Season 2.

'Dare Me'

USA’s Dare Me uses the same dark, gritty look at teenage girl life as The Wilds, but applies it to cheerleading in a small midwestern town. Before the arrival of their new coach, Colette French (Willa Fitzgerald), Addy (Herizen Guardiola) and Beth (Marlo Kelly) were inseparable. But as Beth loses her captain status and Addy cozies up to the new coach, tensions arise and their relationship begins to sour. Dare Me goes all in on female friendship, but throws in a little murder mystery, too. I won’t spoil the surprise, but it’s one season that’s well worth your time.

'Trinkets'

Netflix’s teen drama Trinkets follows three friends who met at a Shoplifters Anonymous group and quickly became thick as thieves — literally. Elodie Davis (Brianna Hildebrand), Moe Truax (Kiana Madeira), and Tabitha Foster (Quintessa Swindell) all have their own distinct personalities and styles, but they bond over their shared habit and support each other through the dramas of high school and home life. While Trinkets was canceled earlier this year, both full seasons are now streaming on Netflix.

'The 100'

Like The Wilds, The 100 follows the stories of survivors who’ve been placed in an unfamiliar land, but it puts a sci-fi twist on the tale. After civilization on Earth is destroyed, the only humans left alive are those orbiting the planet on international space stations. The 100 picks up three generations later, when those left on the stations are beginning to run out of supplies. Hoping to test out Earth and see if it’s safe to return, they send 100 young prisoners to the planet to investigate, with the future of the human race on the line.
